Here on SG, the majority of shinobi are born with chakra, a spiritual force that flows through out the body, giving said person access to unique and supernatural abilities. Chakra is the energy that exist within most living creatures, and humans have found a way to manipulate it for their own purpose. There are five basic elemental natures, giving chakra even more unique properties. These five primary natures come with a six nature, which is non elemental, and is the purest form of Chakra. All shinobi have access to non-elemental chakra, while only a handful posses an elemental nature. Chakra can be added to other things such as Taijutsu or Bukijutsu to create even stronger effects, while elemental chakra can be added to just about any jutsu given it normally would use chakra. This allows shinobi to add elemental effects to their attacks, weather its Taijutsu, Genjutsu, or any of the other specialties.
Five Basic Elements:
-Fire Release: Fire Release is one of the basic elemental nature transformations. It is performed by molding super-heated chakra inside the body before releasing it. It is often seen as flames or heat based attacks. Basic fire jutsu take on the form of breathing it out from the lungs, heating up the body or other objects, or creating areas of intense heat.
-Water Release:Water Release is one of the basic elemental nature transformation techniques that allow the user to manipulate pre-existing water, or create their own, by turning their chakra into water.Attacks are often seen as manipulating water to effect the battlefield, attack enemies with or to change the landscape of attacks. Water is good at shaping, defending or preventing attacks.
-Wind Release: Wind Release is one of the five basic elemental nature transformations. It is performed by making chakra as sharp and thin as possible. Wind Release is mainly short to mid-ranged offensive techniques that combine brute force and keen precision to deal cutting and slashing damage. It can take the form of large gust and storms, or thin sharp blades.
-Lightning Release: Lightning Release is one of the five basic elemental nature transformation techniques that allows the user to generate lightning by increasing the high frequency vibrations of their chakra, allowing for piercing damage and fast movement. Lightning release can take the form of pure lightning, or enhanced attributes like speed and strength.
-Earth Release: Earth Release is one of the basic elemental nature transformation techniques and allows the user to manipulate the surrounding earth for offensive and defensive purposes or create it, including dirt, mud or rocks. Earth release can effect pre existing bodies of earth or can even create their own, forming things such walls, spears or environmental hazards.
Advanced Elements are combinations or variations of the original five primary elements. While there can be any number of custom combinations or variations, there are ten standard advanced elements. This elements are considered to already exist and belong to specific clans or villages.
-Boil Release: Boil Release is the combination of fire and water chakra natures. It takes on the form of super heated steam or vapors and is normally used as mist or liquid based attacks. By super heating water chakra someone can create a steam like effect that is able to melt and burn much like fire, while being in a vapor form, allowing for a unique combination of attacks. It can also be used in the form of toxic or corrosive gas, and can injure those who breath it in.
-Explosion Release: Explosion Release is the combination of fire and lightning chakra natures. It takes the form of incendiary type blast originating from the body which mimic the effect of explosions from grenades. These can deliver impact damage, heat and even fire damage, and is powerful enough to destroy weak objects.
-Scorch Release: Scorch Release is the combination of fire and wind chakra natures. It takes the form of super heated air or wind, and can be used to create burning gust of wind. Often released from the body scorch is used much like the wind element, however is mixed with extremely hot pressure, able to melt and burn objects. Scorch can get so intense it is even able to dry out most things, including plants and even small sources of water.
-Lava Release: Lava Release is the combination of fire and earth chakra natures. By heating up earth based chakra then melting it down, one can create liquid that is capable of burning and melting, creating extremely hot material most often expelled from the body in a thick goo or liquid substance. Once the lava is cooled, either by natural causes or by large amounts of cold, it will solidify, turning to thick ash and stone
-Storm Release: Storm release is the combination of water and lightning chakra natures. By combining the fluid nature of water with the powerful intensity of lightning, storm often takes the form of laser or energy beam type effects. Mostly produced from the body they can be used as high speed blast of energy able to morph and take various different shapes. Storm can also give off large amounts of light that at certain levels are able to blind or stun for a short duration.
-Ice Release: Ice release is the combination of wind and water chakra natures. By cooling down water chakra the user is able to freeze bodies of water or produce ice, using it as a weapon or coating objects in it. The ice can deliver freezing type effects as well as long term damage. When melted the ice will convert back into water able to be used for further effects.
-Wood Release: Wood release is the combination of of water and earth chakra natures. By fusing water and earth the user is able to create or sprout tree like formations, often in the form of wooden or plant like objects. Shy of creating whole forest, the user is able to mimic the creation of trees, using the wood for powerful set ups or attacks.
-Sound Release: Sound release is the combination of lightning and wind chakra natures. The user can vibrate wind based chakra at high frequencies, producing ear splitting sound effects. These effects are barely visable, only leaving behind a small trace as it moves through the air. While sound is able to deliver blunt or slicing damage, it is most effective when targeting the ear, causing enemies to be disoriented or stunned for a short duration.
-Magnet Release: Magnet release is the combination of lightning and earth chakra natures. Super charged earth chakra can be used to attract and deflect metal material, with more skilled users able to move beyond metal, charging other objects. Charged objects can then be used to attract each other, or propel away from each other, making this one of the trickiest and most versatile elements.
-Crystal Release: Crystal release is the combination of wind and earth chakra natures. Using the sharpness of wind chakra the user can use it to effect earth chakra, creating very durable and sharp crystal type of substances. Normally dark purples and pink colors, crystal is transparent, tough and very good at defensive type of abilities. When shattered crystal leaves behind sharp and brittle debris.
Basically, if an elemental technique collides with another elemental technique of equal rank, an elemental advantage can impact the result heavily. For example, if a technique creating a ball of fire goes up against a technique creating a blade of wind, and both are equal in rank, the ball of fire would triumph unimpeded. Advantages are worth one rank, however, meaning that a blade of wind one ranking higher than the ball of fire would result in a stalemate, with both moves cancelling one another out. If you actually wish to overpower a technique with an elemental advantage, your technique must be at least two ranks higher in power.
A similar principle applies in how techniques of the same element interact, in what is called counterbalancing. If two techniques of the same nature and the same level are used against each other, they will cancel each other out, as when Lightning Release: False Darkness is deflected with Lightning Cutter. However, if the two techniques have different levels, the higher-level technique will not only prevail but will grow stronger from interaction with the weaker, as when Amaterasu, the highest level Fire Release technique, grew stronger by absorbing an opposing Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.
An elemental technique can also be boosted by the element that it is strong against. For example, a fire nature technique can be enhanced with a wind nature technique. Regardless of rank, if a technique is used to enhance another technique the increase in power will always be equal one ranking. This means that a fire technique, enhanced by a wind technique, could counterbalance a water technique of equal rank, or defeat a water technique that is one ranking lower in power.
-Fire is strong against Wind but weak against Water .
-Wind is strong against Lightning but weak against Fire .
-Lightning is strong against Earth but weak against Wind .
-Earth is strong against Water but weak against Lightning .
-Water is strong against Fire but weak against Earth .
- Elemental Limits: Shinobi are restricted to a certain amount of known elements based on their rank. More elements can be earned by unlocking certain skill points or obtaining them via special means.
-D-Rank: No Elements
-C-Rank: 1 Basic element or 1 Advanced element (if applicable)
-B-Rank: 2 Basic elements or 1 basic element and 1 Advanced element (if applicable)
-A-Rank: 3 Basic elements or 2 basic elements and 1 Advanced element (if applicable)
-S-Rank: 4 Basic elements or 3 basic elements and 1 Advanced element (if applicable)
- Advanced Elements: You can only have an advanced element if you belong to the clan that owns that element, or have obtained it through special perks or means. If you have an advanced element, you may gain access to it at C-Rank, however one of the two elements that comprise it must be your starting element at the next rank. . The same is true for when you rank up and obtain a new element slot. The only exception is if you earn the element through special means, such as events or bijuu.
- Canon Elements: While we do our best to cater to aspects of the show or manga, certain things need to be changed or adjusted for balancing purposes. Elements may not work or be exactly how they are from the source material, specifically the combinations that create them. While you can create your own jutsu using these advanced elements, you may not create your own clan mimicking these effects, as these are already established clans.
