"It’s You and Me and Our Time Now!”
    “Don’t let Me Down!”

There was a particular mission that had come in overnight. It was one that was personally requested of a certain villager.

The moment Hikari Usagi would have read the scroll sent from the Moon Village, specifically written in braille, his mouth had that frown on his face. Nonetheless, he would set out to meet the client that afternoon as he would make the most uneasiest of tracks within the sand. His shimmering blue jewels as useless as they were, would remain closed off behind frustrated lids and a furrowed brow. His feet were guided by a Hare Hand with keen vision to guide him through the expanse of stone structures and bits of sand that covered the area until finally he was standing before the area where the client wanted to meet.

As usual, he expected this kind of trivial behavior…

The expanse of the cliffs and caverns had a particular spot where Earthen spring water would escape into a formation of rocks that would cascade from one pool to the next. Eventually, they would pour into the nearby channels in the caverns of the Infinite Canyons. It was a well known hot springs for most, but a certain party was interested in using it for their own purposes after paying a hefty sum to the Sun Village for the sake of leisure. It left Hikari to act as a guard along with a higher ranked Shinobi that had been unnamed. Not good with leaders or being controlled as by nature, Hikari had a weary feeling about the shinobi that was to meet him, but yet he would sit on the moist stone of the jade caverns thinking about bigger issues.

“Sojiro-san is...not well.” Hikari’s eyes would close as he sat there ruminating about the previous two days. “He has not rested. I can see it...even without eyes.” It had been several days since their search for the kidnapped children had yielded no results. In fact, it only caused concern as the Wolf shinobi, someone so proud of himself and his strength, had not given up and yielded little rest. Hikari knew his heart was in the right place, but that was his weakness: he overdid things and did not look at things with a fresh pair of eyes.

“Perhaps...there is something I can do.”

Hikari was doing so little. At least...it felt like it. Even now as the client had been nearby, splashing in the springs with every movement with the party that was bathing and chattering among themselves, the rabbit had ignored them. The nearby cart that was wheeled into the cave with possessions seemed to be immobile, and the cavern’s opening was left unattended as it only took Hikari a rimshot of his ears to detect anyone coming in and out within the echoing tunnels. Therefore, he would simply sit and think, not even remembering that another shinobi was to come and aid his efforts.

"For better or worse; I got you!"

“O-oh! S-Sojiro-kun!” Here?! Now? He thought this in utter shock.

It was not that Hikari was not happy to see his friend, but rather, wish he had not. The days had been long since he last saw Sojiro and doubted that the man had gotten any sleep since the last ordeal. Even Hikari, himself, was thinking heavily about what happened when it came to the missing children and what he found. He, himself, wanted to further investigate the matter, but the data was confidential as Sun Shinobi had insisted that Moon Village shinobi were as good as civilians. It only led to Hikari think of the inevitable as he seemed to listen to Sojiro’s footsteps.

Strong as he was, a Usagi’s hearing was the equivalent to seeing. He may had not seen the unholy marks and distorted face, but Hikari could hear the steps of the shinobi. To a Usagi, one would say the boy looked terrible! The lilac haired rabbit would carefully hear Sojiro approach, but would try to cast away his alarm. “O-oh! W-well, the client is someone from Gekkousato,” Hikari would digress, “So it is likely they thought that we would work together as a Shinobi from the Moon village could assist you as well? I do know Moon Village culture by ear!”

Light hearted humor to take away from the obvious, pressing concern. The lilac haired rabbit would sit down allowing Sojiro some space. Being so close meant that he would hear every detail from his health to his tone of voice that echoed through his windpipe to make him vibrate like an instrument. From all of this, Hikari could make a clear diagnosis, but it would be something he already knew. His friend worked hard. Hikari knew that better than anyone. So, he steadied his words.

“The client is actually a clan leader,” he gestured his ears as if in minor disgust. “B-but they are soaking in the springs nearby. But furthermore,” Hikari’s face would show a clear bemusement as he would show his hazy orbs to Sojiro. His nose twisting in slight pain to his overall expression. “Sojiro-kun...a-are you...well? Your body does not seem...as strong as usual. You seem to be sluggish and it is emphasized by weight.” Hikari’s head would give the slightest bob of his head.

“A rabbit can tell.” His voice breaking for a moment as he would get to the point. “Is it...the children?”

"For better or worse; I got you!"

“Blunt?” Hikari’s head would tilt even though he faced the bedrock of the cave. His eyes were not needed to convey his sympathies with that description as much as his soft voice that emitted a chuckle did.“Well, would Sojiro-kun believe it if I were to say, it is because of Grandmother?” He would shake his head wearily. The words out of his mouth were hard to believe. “Ironically enough, with all the things she says, the Usagi have been thought to be open about what they desire to know...and want.” His eyes rolling like dice as he tossed his head.

Even with these things, Hikari’s voice that made light of the conversation would come to a gentle muse. His face twisting into the slightest frown as he conveyed nothing short of misery knowing that he had contributed so little to Sojiro’s efforts. Even more so, Hikari’s eyes would widen as he felt nothing short of fright in his heart. “Two?!” Hikari’s voice would fill the cave with an echo. His mouth would be covered by his hands as he would try to silence his tone. Not until he would calm his heart and sit his hands upon his thighs. He would turn himself to the side as he would face his knees to face Sojiro the best he could. His glassy eyes tried to gaze hard at Sojiro. Even if they would fail to see him, they did convey his worry.

“S-Sojiro-kun! I-I...am so sorry!” Hikari was short of words as his head would fall. His lips pressing tightly. “I had no idea that the village was in such need. Even the Moon Village, that had been busy with the murders, have been ever so hectic itself. Even Usagi have been...slaughtered.” Hikari would turn himself forth once more as if he was trying to see out a solution. Although, he only came up with silence and sadness as he contemplated the situations of them both. His face drooped as he knew Sojiro’s senses were keen when it came to tracking. Himself when it came to listening, he knew he could be aware of anyone. However, even if Usagi women were being murdered before they could react to the slightest sound, then it seemed hopeless.

“Is there...anything we can do...both of us?”

He had asked this to no one in particular. He had let the echo of the cave carry his nearly quiet voice. It was an undoing of his as his ears had not been fully active as he would have noticed the sound of water dripping. The light feet padding. The steam of the cave was like that of a bathhouse that would not been noticed by anyone blind. The scent of hot spring water mixed with that of soil, rabbit pelt that was faint on a body, and not to mention that of a woman’s overstimulated pheromones. It was not until the very last second that Hikari had noticed, but it was too late as fleshed reached around his neck. It was wet and noise like something slithering like a snake’s form as it was skinny. The same would make Sojiro's neck as the figure would aim to embrace them both in a collective embrace. Not to mention that the figure, who would try to tighten its grip in a hug, would press something soft and supple to their backs. It was wet and not to mention...bare.

“Aww! Sooooo sad my darlings’ heartbeats are!” A woman’s voice would coo aloud as it echoed through the wave. Her snake-like eyes would were a gentle mischievous lull as her lips would press tightly in a seductive press. “Seems like you both could use a woman’s...loving? Yes, you can!”

Hikari would feel nothing short but dread knowing this voice, this creepy touch, and not to mention this constant abuse of violating physical boundaries. Almost instantly, after his skin took that leisurely moment to crawl, he would quickly press against the stone and weave his body in a struggling circle. He would turn facing the face of the figure that was looking at him with wet, raven colored hair who had an unyielding gaze. It was not until he would square his body, his arm in front of his face, would he hear the sound of the dripping running water from the bare figure clouded in the steamy mist of the cave.

“G-Grandma!” He would call aloud, “W-w-were you not? Taking a bath?!”

Hikari had stuttered in surprise, but not that much. It seemed he was not exactly thorough with the details of who the clan leader was that he was guarding that night.

"For better or worse; I got you!"

Sojiro was calm under pressure! It was something Hikari admired! Though, Hikari knew what would happen well. He would swallow as he would hear Sojiro exclaim to the woman his preferences were not for, well...what she was selling. Though, with a tilt of her head, the woman would stand as she presented her form in full. The vapors were a thin veil from a far covering her body where clothes would be. Her hands were on her hip as she would gaze down at the young man.

“Hmm? Different field of play, yes? Yes, you say!” The woman spoke with mannerisms that were familiar. It was apparent most of the Usagi Clan spoke in such a way. “Do you mind telling me what is their name? A Usagi’s ears have a thing for hearing lies, did you know? Yes? I believe my little Grand Bun told you so!”

This was bad! Hikari’s heart was racing and he knew how aggressive she could be. There were certain women who did not take no for an answer and she was one of them! “This is bad!” Hikari would swallow, “If Sojiro-kun has a girlfriend, she will be waking up next to an extra! If he really does have a boyfriend, then he will be sharing!” Hikari already knew the terrible stories of his grandmother. He rather not find out what she would truly do to the boy if she were given enough time. She was like a ninken trying to bite a bone and would not let go.

Hikari would try to alleviate the situation, reaching along the cafe floor and grabbing a stray stick that was surely left behind to examine the waters. “Grandma! Down!” Hikari would wave the small piece of wood that was a short as a Kodachi. “Down I say!” It would be a difficult situation to comprehend for Sojiro most likely. Apparently there were Usagi Clan members that knew their mother so well that this was what they did in order to keep her away from their own mates. Her hunger knew no bounds after all, and he was certain that some of those stories about her were true. It would certainly explain why there was some tension between certain family members. As animated as Hikari seemed as he pointed the stick in a shaky manner, it would only cause a grin to show on the woman’s face.

“Well look at my adorable little Grand Bun! Is he perhaps the one you favor? Yes?” A perverse smile crept upon her face as she kept trying to nestle Sojiro. Her head lifting to gaze to Hikari. He could not see her face, but the ominous gaze could be felt in his soul. “See here little bunny, the woman would grin, if a big stick was something that scared me in my life, I would have not had seven lovely daughters to tell the tale, would I not?”

    It was silent...for a moment.

“Eww!” Hikari would let go of the piece of wood as he let it hit the cavern floor. Whether it was boredom, satisfaction from seeing her Grandson tremble, or even if she was satisfied prancing around showing her body to a man; Akemi Usagi would flare her nostrils and tilt her nose up. Looking down upon the two, she would smirk proudly.

“Save your lies and your worries little ones! You are bodyguards yes? Then you should guard this body!” The woman would spread her arms out as if presenting herself. Though her tone would change as she would look at the two. “But at the moment, that does not seem like the case. The way you both sound from afar, you sound more like little children who are doubting their very heritage and abilities. A shame to hear a rabbit depressed over yesterday’s failure and a...uh...Inuzuka who is saddened by his nose being on the fritz.”

Hikari would not have taken his grandmother serious in such situations. However, she struck a nerve as Hikari’s eyes would narrow. He knew his mother’s games so well. At the moment, she was playing a dangerous one. The young lilac haired rabbit would square his body as he seemed tempered by his grandmother. A client or not, she was being nothing short of confrontational.

"How does it feel? Got no one on your side."
“It isn’t how it is really meant to be!”

“Hmm? A wha-?” Akeimi would draw her nails back as she held her hand leveled to her shoulder. “Potato? Potato, darling!” The woman would brush off the exclamation. Her eyes going to the two as she did not seem to care for the young dog’s struggle. Hikari’s brow would furrow hearing the woman brush such a thing off. She was always like this. The details did not matter, not even something as simplistic as she was talking to her own son. Her foot would come forth and tap the bedrock as the sound of water was also swishing from the back. It seemed the rest of the party was exiting the pool. Unlike Akemi, however, they were quick to put on their clothing as they were giggling.

“The point is darling, you are going to die this way,” she would continue on with a frown, “For the rabbit’s case, I would usually hold back such an explanation. Yes. I would. It has been said a hundred times but, a shinobi is a tool to the village. They work effectively to uphold the order by being the weapons against all trespassers. Efficiency is important. However, if a tool is rusted or broken, then they would not be effective in what they do.” Her hand gesturing towards the Wolfman, “You for example, have ran yourself to bits! You have! Once you find these children of yours, what are you do to? Fight with flimsy arms and withered legs while declaring with your mouth you are giving everything you have?” The woman would sweep her hand through the air while shaking her head.

”That will not do.” She would wag her finger. “No. That will not do at all.”

Hikari would tilt his head in a similar manner of the woman as she would pause in her conversation. A peculiar behavior that the boy was noticing. “Grandma Bun, you are...saying a lot,” Hikari was hesitant to consider she was gaining anything out of this. “It is...almost as if you are trying to help, Sojiro-san?” Hikari would note curiously. He was still on guard as his body was squared and he would kick away the stick as it was now a horrid little memory. He could hear the sound of the woman turning to him as she would put her foot down with a stamp.

“Perish the thought, darling!” Akemi would sing, “Yes! You should! I just find it that I came looking for a bodyguard that I can tucker out and yet the village...they have sent one that already is! That is bad business for what I paid for after all! I have half the mind to actually request my money back! It is like asking for chicken and I have been served bones! I can take no meat from this one!”

Hikari’s face would go deadpan at the moment. Every bit of respect he had in his Grandmother, or what little, from hearing her speak had been thrown from the proverbial window never to return. His lips pressing tightly as he would start to piece things together: she was plenty of strong to defend herself, she paid money to another village that was not familiar with her ways, and not to mention Hikari was the one here guarding her. “D-did she...” Hikari’s face would sour even more if even possible, “...was she paying for a ninja she could-”

    All respect was lost...again!

    "Can You Catch Me?"
“I’m Waiting for You to Catch Me!”

Humiliating? Embarrassing? All on the left side of a certain question mark?

Hikari was all of those things as he would take his right hand against his face. Nothing short of humiliation as the woman would stand proudly after announcing herself to using the village system in such a way. It was nothing short of surprising to hear the next voice around the lilac haired bunny. He spun on his heel and would look upon Sojiro with nothing short of sure shock. His mouth was agape with confusion. “Is he...okay?” He was skeptical of Sojiro. He always assumed that the shinobi was plotting or something of the sort. “M-maybe he has a plan? Something to ward Grandmother away?”

“Thank me?” The woman’s eyes would pop while her clanswomen would approach from behind. One woman’s hands guiding upon the woman’s shoulders with a veil of silk. “Do not flatter yourself, dog! As said, I simply wanted a shinobi that was filled with a bit more...vitality. Anything less was a disappointment. Do let yourself out as we leave. We girls are the most dangerous in the dark, so we will not need you as we head back. Thank you, nonetheless, for your services...umm...” She would place his index to her chin and tilt her head. A hand wavering as she would fan away the thought. “Never mind. Girls! Away we go!”

A laughter erupting from the woman as she would step to the exit. She would cackle as she would covet her mouth and leaving the two there. Hikari, appalled by the woman’s...well...not really. She was always like this. Still, Hikari did not want this thing to be seen by a friend. “Sojiro-san! I-I am so sorry!” Hikari would plea as he would stand next to the shinobi. “C-come! We can head back! Do not mind Grandmother Bun! She is always being difficult and saying cryptic things! I-I am...sure Sojiro-san is doing his best.” Hikari would say, reaching out a firm hand.

“So...let us go back and get some rest, okay?” He would request.
