By himself, it didn't take much time at all for Sojiro to traverse across the deserts of the Sun Village and eventually cross into the more tame area that belonged to the Debon Plains. Despite being so close to the desert, the area was fairly nice and pretty; large grass fields that spread as fair as the eye could see. Of course, there was the exception of large patches of trees and the likes that were spread out across the land and only added to the overall aesthetic of the land. It was hard to imagine a large creature being so hard to find out here, of course, it would all come down to the type of beast that Sojiro was fighting. The mission had described it as a beast that moved underneath the ground with little hesitation to attack civilians and shinobi alike, an infamous Vorrapede! The chance to fight one of these rare creatures had found its way on Sojiro's doorstep, at least metaphorically, considering that the man had needed to travel outside of the village to actually hunt their creature. As Sojiro had traveled down the Kataki Road inside of the territory belonging to the Debon Plains, he couldn't really pick up anything with his nose that seemed out of place. Nor did he see any large tunnels or ground torn up from some large creature from moving underneath the ground.
If anything, as he walked through the area, things seemed to be peaceful and as calm as they always seemed. There was more than a bit of confusion on Sojiro's face as he moved closer to the locations of the most recent sightings, more than unsure of what the hell was actually going on. Were the people using Doton Users to reform the ground once the beast had destroyed the ground? That would make sense, if they just let the destruction stack up than Sojiro didn't doubt that, eventually, there would be no roads to travel on. The lack of sightings began to make sense he strolled down the street, that was until there was the feeling of something that was beneath his feet. From what Sojiro had been led to understand is that while this beast was still loose in the area, that no one was supposed to travel in this area. This meant that the vibrations he was feeling was not a caravan and, unless it was a stampede in the distance that was getting closer, he had a feeling in his gut that he knew what was about to happen. Before he really had a lot of time to try and react to what was happening around him, the shaking would increase by nearly ten fold before the ground that was underneath Sojiro started to break apart. As the ground began to tear apart, several tentacles would tear through the ground and become visible way before the rest of the body was. Hell, before the body could even be seen, two large mandibles would have exploded out after the tentacles and all of them would threaten to entangle and/or crush Sojiro completely!
Sojiro would press against a piece of earth before it fully shattered apart, doing his best to finish that job off, while he would laugh into the air with his fully strength. If someone was looking from fair away, a small creature would seemingly launch itself into the air as a large Vorrapede would explode from underneath of it! Like a large train, the giant beast would move in a straight line into the air after the small creature, the tentacles from around its mouth doing the best job to try and entangle him. While Sojiro had managed to avoid the mandibles' length, if one of the tentacles had gotten a hold of him that it would only be a matter of time before he was dragged down into range and then cleaved in half! There was a lot to be at risk here in this moment, causing Sojiro to feel the knots in his stomach to suddenly increase, "If you think this is how I'm going to die, you are so wrong, you big ugly bug!" Of course, there wasn't actually much that Sojiro could do to avoid it as his own momentum was starting to fail him.
Slowly did Sojiro start falling back towards the mouth of the creature while the beast's own momentum would keep it coming closer towards Sojiro, causing the man to let out a heavy breath and really regretting what was starting to happen here. He really shouldn't have been walking on the ground, he knew better than that, but he also knew that it would be nearly impossible to trick this thing out of hiding any other way. Annoyance was really what Sojiro felt as the creature would finally get one tentacle near him but, instead of letting it just wrap around him, Sojiro would move to grab it with his right hand and then dig into it with his nails. He would hold onto the tentacle as he would whip around, some odd ooze coming from the wounds he had created. The large Vorrapede's momentum upwards would finally stop, the large body of the beast starting to arch back downwards and straight towards the ground! Sojiro would do his best not to let out of the giant creature that he was holding onto as it plummeted directly back towards the earth! Anyone who was watching would see the large creature dive out of the earth, as though it was the ocean, before it would disappear back into the ground! All that would be left in the wake of the creature were two large holes. Sojiro and the beast were gone!
